Confronting your health challenges

Happy Saturday!

Last month, many of you replied to this newsletter with such thoughtful responses on the topic of choice.

It blew me away!

Your words were incredibly inspiring to read about what you’re choosing when it comes to your health, wealth, and relationships.

And now this month’s theme is: confrontation.

If this newsletter is resonating with you — I wanna hear it.

Hit “reply” and share what’s coming up for you.

Alright, let’s get curious about confronting your health.

Live to be a 100-year-old badass

For those who aren’t familiar, these two guys pictured above are Peter Attia and David Goggins.

They are two bestselling authors in the worlds of physical fitness, self-improvement, and pushing personal limits.

But they subscribe to two VERY different approaches.

Attia focuses on science-based personalized longevity (check out his book Outlive). While Goggins, on the other hand, encourages relentless self-discipline to overcome adversity (check out his book Can’t Hurt Me).

I believe if we combine their teachings, we’ll actually find a very powerful path to confronting our sometimes destructive health behaviors for a more impactful and comfortable tomorrow.

Embrace discomfort now, be comfortable later

When I chat with clients and friends about physical health, there’s a wide spectrum of feelings that come up from excitement and fulfillment to shame, guilt, and frustration. It’s complicated for some. And yet second nature to others.

Regardless of our health story, many of us love to set well-intentioned health goals. Only to later beat ourselves up when we slip.

Can you relate?

In order to be incredibly healthy in one area of life, it feels like we have to sacrifice other parts.

So let’s confront this health conundrum head-on by blending the ideas together.

Here’s how it looks:

Peter’s Big Idea

David’s Big Idea

Kevin’s Blended Idea

Personalize what works best for your genetics, lifestyle, and health profile to extend your lifespan as much as possible.

Unleash your mental toughness while taking extreme accountability of your life no matter how uncomfortable it is.

Commit to gifting yourself a long, healthy life by tailoring an approach that works for you (even if it’s uncomfortable).

DISCLAIMER: When you confront your physical health, do not forget to consult your physician. Look at this confrontation as a duty you have (to yourself and others). Please don’t wait until sickness becomes the catalyst.

Remember this is YOUR health journey.

And it should be customized for YOU.

Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.

KEVIN’S RECOMMENDATIONS
More to get curious about

📌 Mobility + flexibility + strength = strong AF: Last year, I started incorporating new elements and modalities into my workouts. Brett Behney was the first person to challenge my mental and physical limits since running an ultramarathon in my mid 30’s. He leads the Dynamic Movement Collective — bodyweight training and real-world, functional fitness for everyone (plus lots of handstands)🤸💪

📌 A couple more unconventional workouts in my mash up: Not only do I love the functionality of Pat McNamara’s workouts, but his “Basic Dude Stuff” clips are fantastic (especially if you are a dad joke aficionado).

📌 Sometimes the strength we need comes from within: One of the toughest workouts I ever did is committing (and following through) on the protocol in Kamal Ravikant’s “Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends Upon It.”

If you decide to try any of these out, I’d love to hear back from you.

And just like that, another week of learning and growing is over.

Stay tuned for next Saturday when we dive into: confronting your wealth

As always…

I’m in this with you shoulder-to-shoulder,
